Not With My Civil Rights, Bubba!

by Zalee Harris, African-American woman from the state of Maryland, head of Education Doctors

I dare you equalize my civil rights with a person’s sexual desire! And I dare you compare a person’s sexual desire with how my ancestors were oppressed and then use political correctness as the means to make me submit and accept.

You want to do what with my civil rights? How many times have you heard me say; “it's bad enough that I (a black human being) have to have a civil right to be protected in these here United States of America. Now you want me to compromise what was fought and died for because another human being chooses to be gay, transgender, or lesbian. You have to be out of your mind! And for what? Votes? Money? Social Acceptance? Surely, you don’t want me to believe its right the thing to do or, because it’s fair. Sorry, but that dog won’t hunt.

Blacks are waking up to the reality that society wants us to be fair and trade our civil rights for civil unions. It is necessary to ask questions, demand answers and say no to anything that ‘could’ strip the world of a moral right. Stop, right there, if you connected my ‘moral right’ statement to your political preference, then we have a problem. I am talking about your soul. The soul that is that wonderful tool given to us by our Creator that conducts subconscious debates between our hearts and minds. I am talking about – when your gut tells you at first glance that something is not right – that’s the one you are supposed to listen to. We have to add a strong protective discipline called integrity and stand firm, unmovable, ever abound, and be relentlessly engaged – because there are so few of us out here, we have to work smart and not hard.

Background History – to catch some of you up on the history or to connect the dots for the confused.

I began watching for the gay agenda to enter our schools in 1997. I learned that it actually started in Maryland when the State Department of Education took federal money from the Goals 2000: Educate America Act of 1994. The Gay Lobby organized a national consortium of special interest groups. They cried for equality in our school’s Health and Multicultural classrooms. They wanted their sexual life-styles to be given the same level of respect as the traditional marriage between a man and a woman – and the legal benefits that come with being married. In order to make this a societal norm, society is working to eradicate morality through education by influencing the minds of our innocent children at a young age so that by the time our children become adults the gay life-style would be an accepted norm of society. In addition, society is busy appointing judges and training lawyers to argue cases in our judicial system that aims to remove constitutional protects and religious beliefs that are the foundation of the laws of our land.

In 1997, Maryland realized that the Safe Schools Programs (initiative) required schools to implement what is called “safe havens” (pastel-colored-coded classrooms) for gay students that felt threatened by being teased. Never mind the fact that there is a shortage of academic classrooms, if one child needed a safe haven, a room, a teacher, or security had to be available. Imagine the cost of providing this service. By the end of the 1997 school year, MSDE had begun to integrate the gay life-style across all classroom curricula. MSDE jointly sponsored secret seminars to train educators how to teach to this diverse student body. Diversity mandates once used to integrated schools based on race, now included ‘gays’ as an aggregate statistic. All that was needed was a state law that provided gays an equal protection – a.k.a. Civil Right.

In 1999, the fed’s dangled money over the heads of our state leaders… Before we knew it, Maryland’s former Governor Glendening decided to use his brother who died of AIDS as the poster child to justify his new-found support and empathy for what gays go through trying to be accepted and live normal family lives. It took Maryland two years, but by 2001, our State Senators passed SB-205-01 – the Anti-Discrimination Act of 2001. A state law they said would never become a slippery slope for teaching gay sex in our schools. They swore on their dead parents' graves that that law only served as reinforcement for making sure no property owner or employer would discriminate against a person because of their sexual orientation. Well, it took, 120 days, and out of the gate, Maryland’s State Schools Superintendent proposed recommendations to HER state board that would modify the Code of Maryland Annotate Regulations (C.O.M.A.R) Section 13 to include teaching gay life-style in our schools under the guise of multicultural and health education – which would eventually be integrated across all educational programs in grades K-12.

By 1999 Massachusetts, Vermont, Nevada, and a few other states, passed legislation equalizing a person’s sexual desire with a human/civil right. You’ve heard me say it hundreds of times; I’ll say it again. “It’s bad enough that ‘in-these-here’ United States, I need a law to protect me because I am a black human being living in America, but to equalize my civil rights with a person’s sexual desire is unconscionable! Enter stage left, zero tolerance, and tolerance for the sake of political correctness. WOW! – The Soviet Union Communistic Best Practices of the 20th Century takes over America – a country made up of the rationale of the letter of the law. He who rationalizes their agenda and obtains enough votes in support of that agenda, wins. My father used to tell me, that with enough votes, he could add another Sunday to the week. I now understand the power of rationale and votes.

However, like I said before, that dog won’t hunt…I cannot rationalize how a human being who is already protected by state laws can actually believe they can convince society to accept their sexuality the same as they are required to accept a person’s race, that is before I started researching elementary and secondary education. It did not take long before I understood that it was innocence, they were after. High Stakes education fueled by government funded special interest groups that consume classroom time with preparing our children to live, work, and play in a society that will be adversely different in twenty years. Most of you reading this are between ages 30 – 60… think you might be still living in 20 years. Wonder what the world would be like? What are you doing about it? Is it really for the children? In 20 years, they will be between ages 20 – 40; something tells me when they look back on the history of events, like I’ve done with my history, they will not be too happy to learn how apathetic their parents were.

The racial human content gave us the civil right. We are either male or female, that’s what makes us human. A human that chooses to be gay does not mean that gay is a race. But that’s what they are trying to accomplish. Dr. John Diggs, a black man, put it in prospective, we are not African American because of what we do. Gays are gay because of what they choose to do. Nonetheless, the gay agenda is sweeping America’s classrooms, our televisions, our music, and our reading material and its crying for protection under the 14th Amendment – Equal Protection. The 14th Amendment was passed to provide Blacks Equal Voting Rights that made ‘whole’ US Citizens treated equally – according to race – NOT BEHAVIOR! Our schools teach the homosexual lifestyle in the Multicultural Courses, Social Studies, and Heath Education Classes. Multiculturalism diversified by race, creed, or origin. I do not have a problem with our children understanding certain things about people, sex, and the culture and the health thereof; I would like to see such teaching and/or certain exposures done in an age appropriate manner with full disclosure and parent notification and consent. That’s not asking too much is it? To do otherwise, is an indication that there is something to hide. The very fact that something is hidden proves that the hider knows that what they are doing is fundamentally and morally wrong. (The heart and mind debate)

Now, this brings me to my hot-button. There are people on our school boards, in our classrooms, elected to serve us in our tax paid offices, and/or that lead our churches and communities that do not understand the difference between a civil right and a sexual desire. These same people whose names I will not mention, also do not know the difference between a resolution and a state law. They do not understand that a state law is enforceable and holds people or systems accountable. They do not understand the new education reforms well enough to raise a flag when privacies are being violated or when innocence is being stripped. That’s our fault.

It gets worst, these same people, whose names I will not mention, attend workshops and seminars paid for by our tax dollars that covertly manipulate their minds and they become champions for the gay special interest agenda. They walk in opened minded (a listener) and the walk out indoctrinated (a promoter for the cause).

Okay, hang in there, I’m going somewhere with this…I am tired of hearing White people drop names of civil rights leaders in my face as if they are a supreme authority on what took place during the civil rights era in an attempt to silence my outspokenness on this issue. You have no right or authority to compromise my integrity to protect my civil rights with a person’s sexual desire. Hold on, I got something for my fellow Blacks that want to be called an African American. You are the biggest perpetrators of what is wrong with this issue, because you who claim an African American heritage because of the slave struggle our ancestors went through; you want to understand the so-called oppression gays go through. I am sorry, I am not trying to turn off anyone from hearing my message; but people, we have problem, and that problem is us.

My brother-in-law died of AIDS. He lived his last days in my house. I mixed his AZT Cocktail in my blender, with food I cooked, and fed him through a straw before he died, when his own family would not take him in (scared of AIDS) and I detested what he did to himself. But he was my husband’s brother. So don’t call me homophobic. Don’t throw your political antics at me and expect me to back down and submit to your uninformed acceptance of stripping our children of their innocence, me of my civil rights, my religious beliefs of their societal value, and the dignity of my nation! That dog won’t hunt.

Our civil rights are not for sale. It should be no surprise that the Massachusetts Supreme Court is about to rule on whether the Commonwealth state ought to bypass voter referendum and state legislature to allow same sex people be married, thus allowing them to share in the benefit of what being legally married means. Massachusetts, a commonwealth state that forced gay sex education on their public schools despite mounds of parental opposition.

I am so proud to know that Blacks are waking up. We have learned that the political establishment has used us to push these agendas into society. We are the test bed population that are experimented with and redlined. “Yes sa, Mr. Charlie, I’d get dat fo you.” “Massa, they stole our car, How ‘WE’ gone get to town?” We have voted strictly out of party loyalty not because of issues. We are good at reciting the message and using the buzzwords. We do not have a clue.

I had an encounter this week with a school board member that pulled the civil rights name dropping game on me to defuse my opposition to what the state is trying to do in our schools. Now, don’t get me wrong, I handled my business, its just the thought of someone whom my tax dollar pays to serve and protect the children of my community would play me for stupid. No, it ain’t happening here.

The first thing we need to do is select candidates that can hold down the fort, while we are busy taking care of our families. We need to come together and learn the political process better so that we can understand that Governors selects judges and members of committees/boards for their states and the President makes agency appointments and selects judges for the high courts. We need to pay more attention to the facts and not just, what we read in print, because the media plays a major role in pushing the agenda.

And we certainly need to pay attention to the words used in policies that govern us. One little word can change the meaning and the intent of the entire process. We need to re-incorporate the old rule of business, if it sounds too good to be true, that’s because it’s not. We need to turn over rocks looking for the fine print. Ask questions. I don’t care how stupid they sound. ASK THEM until you learn and become wise. Always know there is a hidden agenda – find it!

If you fail to join this fight, you may live to see God’s creation [procreation] between a man and a woman be equalized with hatching an egg. The traditional marriage is quickly being equalized with a civil union. Human sperm is being equalized with an egg. HELLO?

You do not have to agree with me. I will die to protect your right to debate the issues. However, to do nothing is not an option. To throw rocks and hide your hands is not a rule of the game. If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything.

Sincerely,
