Hypocrisy of Gay Teachers
From the March 20, 2003 edition of The Northern Virginia Journal newspaper:
How do you spell hypocrisy?
With respect to [Fairfax County, Virginia public school teacher] Robert Rigby's March 7 letter advocating "tolerance" for gays (``Challenged Book Portrays Gays in Positive Light"), I would add that tolerance also should extend to ex-gays as well.
Each year, thousands of men and women with same-sex attractions make the personal decision to leave homosexuality. However, some refuse to respect that choice. As a result, ex-gays are subject to an increasingly hostile environment where we are reviled simply because we dare to exist.
Mr. Rigby knows this firsthand, because he contributes to the hate against former homosexuals. He and some of his students picketed our ex-gay conference last year.
He opposes our attempts to include ex-gay books and sexual reorientation in the school's curriculum, although he endorses gay books and gay-affirming presentations.
Evidently, he limits free speech to only those topics he approves of.
